Vic Legal Aid appoints first female managing director
For the first time, a woman will head up Victoria Legal Aid, as outgoing managing director Bevan Warner departs after a decade in the role.
Louise Glanville, who boasts almost two decades’ worth of experience in senior leadership roles for the Victorian and Commonwealth governments, will take the reigns of the state’s public sector legal organisation.

Her previous experience includes being CEO of the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation, deputy CEO of the National Disability Insurance Agency, several roles in the Attorney-General’s Department at the federal level, deputy secretary of the Victorian Department of Justice’s former legal and equity group, principal legal and social policy adviser to the Deputy Premier and Attorney-General.
She is also a member of the Australian Law Reform Commission’s Family Law System Advisory Committee and chairs the Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority Board.
“Louise Glanville is an outstanding public sector leader, with a wealth of executive leadership experience in both Victorian and Commonwealth government roles, and I congratulate her on her appointment,” Victorian Attorney-General Martin Pakula said.
“I would like to thank Bevan Warner for his decade of leadership at Victoria Legal Aid, and his major contribution to delivering access to justice for Victorians.”
Ms Glanville will commence in her role in mid-October, with Mr Warner stepping down in August.
