Key players: HSF partner Kristen Percy worked with senior associates Laurelle Ko and Sam Cooper and solicitors Josh Singer and Clare Brennan to advise Alinta Energy on the project.

Deal significance: Yandin Wind Farm is a 214MW project located about 175 kilometres north of Perth, in close proximity to the West Australian town of Dandaragan, Herbert Smith Freehills noted.

Alinta Energy was advised on an engineering, procurement and construction procurement as well as an operation and maintenance procurement of the wind farm.

According to Herbert Smith Freehills, Alinta Energy has committed to construction of the project and is engaging Vestas as the engineering, procurement and construction procurer, and the operation and maintenance procurer.

Construction is due to begin mid-year on the 51 4.2MW turbine-farm, with the project expected to be fully operational by mid-2020, the firm said.

Lead partner Mr Percy said, “It has been a pleasure working with the Alinta Energy team on the Yandin Wind Farm project.

“We congratulate Alinta Energy on their first renewables development and we’re excited to see the project move into the construction phase.”

He considered the project as having “a strong wind resource and shows the continuing strength of the Australian renewables market”.
