Gilbert + Tobin welcomes investment funds expert

An investment funds expert has joined Gilbert + Tobin as a partner in the corporate advisory practice.

Nathan Cahill joined G+T at the start of July in the corporate advisory practice, specialising in investment funds.

A former partner at MinterEllison, Mr Cahill has over 20 years of experience in the investment industry.

Mr Cahill is a leading Australian investment law practitioner, and brings a wealth of experience in local and offshore investments across numerous asset classes including credit, hedge equity, private equity, venture capital, real estate and other investment product classes.

The firm said he is known for his commercial acumen, innovation and pragmatic approach and has received numerous industry accolades including for industry innovation.

Furthermore, a broad range of clients including major hedge and equity fund managers, financial institutions and large family offices appoints Mr Cahill to advise on business strategy, fundraising, launching new ventures & funds, mitigating risk or making investments. Mr Cahill is also experienced in managing regulator challenges.

In joining G+T, he will play a key role in strengthening the premier investment law practice in Australia.

Mr Cahill noted that he will be working with partners Adam Laura, Deborah Johns and Peter Reeves, who are established experts in investment funds and fintech.

He noted the team had a common goal to “build the best investment law practice in the country covering all aspects of investment across multiple asset classes. 

“We want to add a lot of talent that [is] passionate about the investment industry,” he said.

Mr Cahill is also a director in the Australian Investment Council and a regular speaker at business events.
