Area: Transport and infrastructure.

Key players: The Ashurst team was led by transport and infrastructure partner Krista Payne. Ms Payne was assisted by senior associates Andrew Higgins and Rhiannon Evans and lawyers Lachlan Mack and Ben Shilson-Josling. Lawyers from the firm’s dispute resolution and environment and planning teams also advised.

Deal significance: According to a statement from Ashurst, the impending Crows Nest station forms part of the Sydney Metro project, Australia’s biggest public transport project.

“The Crows Nest Station is located in the Crows Nest residential area and will materially improve the public transport options and connectivity for local residents and businesses,” the statement read.

“The station will sit 25 metres below ground and includes two station entrances, one located on Pacific Highway between Oxley Street and Hume Street and one located on Clarke Street. The station is strategically significant given its close proximity to commercial and mixed-used hub St Leonards and is one of six new stations being built on the Sydney Metro City & Southwest Project.”

Commenting further, Ms Payne said: “We are delighted to again play a part in Australia’s biggest public transport project by advising Sydney Metro in relation to the Crows Nest Station Contract. The station is another significant milestone in the Sydney Metro project and will be an amazing addition to the transport options and amenity for the local community.”
