Ashurst bolsters disputes partner, rolls out new role
The global law firm has recruited a new partner who will take on a new role as regional head of the bank industry, working across the APAC market.
Nicholas Mavrakis has been named as the new partner with the newly introduced role, which will see him situated within Ashurst’s Sydney-based dispute resolution practice.

Mr Mavrakis joins Ashurst from Clayton Utz where he has worked up a 25-year career in managing large and complex litigation matters with a particular focus on financial planning, responsible and consumer lending, markets, culture and governance. His broad practice also encompasses commercial disputes, regulatory investigations, class actions, securities law, cartel disputes, fraud and tax disputes.
Throughout his career, Mr Mavrakis has advised on vast complex investigations undertaken by Australian regulatory bodies including ASIC, the ATO and the ACCC, as well as work related to royal commission assignments.
He has extensive experience advising Australian and international corporate and banking clients on their local and global disputes, regulatory and internal investigations and follow-on regulatory enforcement action and litigation.
