Investment manager Duxton has been advised on its recent acquisition of independent craft brewer Little Bang Brewing.

Firm: Piper Alderman (Duxton)

Deal: Piper Alderman has advised the hotels and hospitality arm of investment manager Duxton on the acquisition of Little Bang Brewing from its founders in a cash and scrip deal as a part of the expansion of Duxton Pubs’ rapidly growing portfolio.

Value: Undisclosed

Area: Merger and acquisition

Key players: The Piper Alderman team was led by partners Simon Venus and Jonathan Dodd, who worked closely with the Duxton Pubs on the buy-side legal aspects of the transaction, including due diligence, contract negotiation and completion.

Deal significance: A long-time client of the firm, Duxton is based in South Australia and has established itself as a leading boutique asset manager with a focus that includes agriculture, equities and hospitality.

Commenting on the deal, Mr Venus said the firm was “delighted to have been able to work with such a collaborative team and to have played a part in closing this transaction”.

The deal sees the founders’ continuing involvement in the business and will bring natural synergies for expansion for Little Bang Brewing and its beer lines, Duxton Pubs portfolio manager Will Brennan said.

“The advice provided by Simon and his team throughout the transaction was highly relevant, timely and practical,” he said.

“Their input was integral to the success of the transaction, and we look forward to collaborating on future matters.”
