Tania Wolff has been reappointed as the LIV president for a third year following a board meeting earlier this month.

Ms Wolff has nearly three decades of experience in the law. Her practice includes commercial law, in-house counsel roles and criminal law.

In addition to her president’s role, Ms Wolff currently serves as the principal and director of First Step Legal, a LIV-accredited specialist in criminal law, and a sessional legal member on the Mental Health Tribunal.

“In my role as LIV president, I have had the privilege of advocating on behalf of the legal profession and the community on pivotal issues. I look forward to continuing this work in calling for reforms to our legal system to improve access to justice and upholding the rule of law in Victoria,” Ms Wolff said, commenting on her reappointment.

“While the last few years have brought about challenges for the legal profession, I am optimistic of positive and exciting times ahead as we continue to navigate new terrain.”

In addition to Ms Wolff’s appointment, LIV has also appointed Louisa Gibbs and Matthew Hibbins as deputy presidents.

Ms Gibbs is the chief executive of the Federation of Community Legal Centres, and Mr Hibbins is the managing partner – Melbourne of MinterEllison.

LIV CEO Adam Awty congratulated each of the new appointments.

“I congratulate Tania on her reappointment as LIV president and Louisa and Matthew on their appointments as deputy presidents.

“LIV members can be sure they will be well served and represented under their leadership,” Mr Awty said.
