According to a statement from Ashurst, the execution of this contract is a “significant step” in the Liddell transition project.
“The full closure of the Liddell power station will take place in April 2023. It will be the first of AGL’s thermal generation sites to be converted into an integrated, low-carbon industrial energy hub, which will support energy reliability and regional economic development,” the firm’s statement said.
“The Liddell transition project forms part of the broader AGL strategy to transition away from coal and focus on new renewable and firming capacity.”
Commenting further, lead partner Gareth Sage said: “Ashurst is proud to be working with AGL on this landmark project as AGL executes its strategy to reshape its energy portfolio.”
