She was a practising town planner before qualifying as a lawyer, the firm said in a statement, and has “lived experience in the development industry”.
This means, the firm said, “she is a go-to adviser to developers on all aspects of project delivery — from project conception and development application structuring, through to approval procurement, infrastructure agreement negotiations and court appeals”.
Clayton Utz proclaimed that Ms Evans’ experience in providing specialist statutory planning advice to governments at all levels would also further strengthen its public sector practice in Queensland.
Speaking about the appointment, Clayton Utz ESD national practice group leader Claire Smith said that Ms Evans is an “excellent fit” for the group.
“She has a genuine passion for planning, and her practical experience in working for both government and industry adds an extra, and highly valuable, dimension to her work as a legal adviser,” she said.
“Our Brisbane ESD team includes one of Australia’s top environment and planning partners in Karen Trainor. Wendy’s appointment will give our clients access to an even greater capability across the full range of ESD-related legal services.”
