Nicole Whitby, who has served as a senior associate at Pinsent Masons since late 2017, has been promoted to the firm’s partnership. She practises in the firm’s energy and infrastructure, construction advisory, and disputes practice.

She is one of 22 new partners globally at the BigLaw firm and is one of three in the Asia-Pacific region elevated to the partnership. There are also five new partners in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) and 14 in the UK, bringing Pinsent Masons’ partner numbers to 502.

Ten of the firm’s new partners have come from the energy sector, and five are in the technology, science, and industry sector.

The news follows a period of significant expansion by Pinsent Masons in Australia, having expanded its service offerings to include four new practices with teams taken from BigLaw rivals.

In August of last year, it launched an employment and reward practice with teams from Lander & Rogers and Holding Redlich; in December, it unveiled a new restructuring and insolvency practice with a team from Gilchrist Connell; in February, it launched a WHS practice with a team from Sparke Helmore; and last month, it started a TMT practice with a team from KPMG Law.

Speaking about the promotions, Pinsent Masons senior partner Andrew Masraf said: “These promotions highlight the exceptional talent across our firm.

“They not only strengthen our partner team but also reinforce the breadth of our capability and our strength in depth across all our key sectors.

“These promotions are crucial for shaping our business and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to invest in our global business.

“With over 500 partners, our firm is set to continue its exciting growth trajectory.”
