Gregory Sarginson, who has 30 years of experience in the legal profession, has been appointed as the newest deputy president and division head of the consumer and commercial division (CCD) at the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT).
Sarginson completed three degrees at the University of Sydney, including a bachelor of arts, bachelor of laws, and master of laws.
NCAT revealed that he commenced his legal career as a solicitor at Rankin & Nathan in 1994. Subsequently, he held the position of senior associate at Dunhill Madden Butler and later served as the national litigation manager of workers’ compensation for QBE Insurance.
In 2003, Sarginson became a barrister, and he practised law under this title for over 18 years.
Additionally, NCAT outlined that Sarginson served as a part-time general member at NCAT from 2014 to 2016, and subsequently as a part-time senior member between August 2016 and December 2021. Additionally, in December 2021, he was appointed as a full-time senior member.
Sarginson started this new position at NCAT on 16 September.
Attorney-General Michael Daley expressed his enthusiasm towards Sarginson’s appointment, stating how he had “a wealth of knowledge to his new role”.
“Aside from his years of experience at NCAT, Mr Sarginson previously heard cases at the former Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal and at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
“The consumer and commercial division is one of NCAT’s busiest functions, and Mr Sarginson is well placed to be its leader.
“I congratulate Mr Sarginson on his well-deserved appointment,” Daley said.
