International law firm King & Wood Mallesons has added a new competition partner, who joins from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
After spending four years at the ACCC, Jennifer Barron has joined KWM as a partner in Sydney, commencing her new role in June.
Barron has almost 25 years of legal experience, including two decades of experience in private practice, during which she was a partner at Gilbert + Tobin. Most recently, she was general counsel for merger reform at the ACCC.
Barrons’s expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of traditional competition law areas, with notable expertise in the energy sector – and the firm said that her experience in ACCC merger clearance, including her understanding of the current reforms, will be a strong asset.
KWM Australia chief executive partner Renae Lattey said she was “thrilled to welcome Jennifer to KWM”.
“Her strong blend of experience at the regulator, including with the merger reform, and private practice, combined with our existing national competition bench strength, will be invaluable as we support our clients in navigating the complexities of this major overhaul of Australia’s merger regime,” she said.
