After hiring a banking and finance partner from Hogan Lovells (HL) earlier this year, global law firm Baker McKenzie has added another senior lawyer from the firm after its exit from the Australian market.
Baker McKenzie has bolstered its banking and finance practice in Sydney with the addition of new special counsel Lisa Mazor.
This news comes after the addition of banking and finance partner Bryan Paisley earlier this year, who worked with Mazor at HL, which – as reported last September – has exited the Australian market.
Mazor was formerly a senior associate at HL and has more than 25 years of experience in banking and finance, advising on all sides of complex transactions. She has acted for banks, credit funds, government, export credit agencies, multilaterals, sponsors and borrowers on a wide range of corporate debt facilities, leveraged and acquisition facilities, fund financings, real property transactions, asset finance and project finance transactions.
This news follows the return of tax partner Dixon Hearder in February, as well as the appointment of a former general counsel as a new construction partner in Brisbane in November and the firm’s naming of a new India chair in the same month.
Commenting on the new appointment, Baker McKenzie national managing partner Anne-Marie Allgrove said: “Lisa is a highly experienced and sought-after banking and finance lawyer, who has worked both in Australia and abroad. Having worked alongside Bryan, she is a terrific cultural fit and joins at a time of increasing client demand.”
