National firm LHD Lawyers has acquired the personal injury division of BigLaw player Holding Redlich, which will see the former assume the latter’s personal injury matters and welcome several lawyers and staff.
LHD Lawyers, a national plaintiff personal injury firm with 45 lawyers and 165 staff and offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Hobart, and Perth, is acquiring Redlich’s Work Injury Lawyers (Redlich’s), a division of BigLaw firm Holding Redlich.
Redlich’s has eight lawyers and 17 staff in Victoria.
The acquisition, LHD noted in a statement, is part of the national firm’s growth strategy, and “reinforces its commitment to delivering outstanding client service” in personal injury law across Australia.
Lawyers Weekly understands that LHD is currently in the process of making offers to certain lawyers and staff members as part of the acquisition, which will see the firm assume conduct of Redlich’s portfolio of personal injury matters. Those lawyers and staff who transition across will join LHD’s Melbourne office.
Holding Redlich will look for other opportunities for those who do not receive an offer.
The transition will take effect on 1 July 2025.
Redlich’s was formerly known as Adviceline Injury Lawyers. The firm rebranded to its current name in March 2022.
Speaking about the acquisition, LHD managing director John Abouchrouche (pictured) said that it represents a “significant milestone” for the firm.
“We are proud to continue building a national network of personal injury and total and permanent disability professionals who share our commitment to client care and results-focused legal practice,” he said.
“We look forward to welcoming Redlich’s clients and people to LHD and to ensuring their matters are pursued with the same dedication and excellence they have experienced to date.”
LHD’s chief executive, James Bodel, added that the acquisition is part of the firm’s broader vision to grow a strong, sustainable national business that is built on integrity, opportunity, and long-term value.
“We are focused on expanding our footprint in key markets, investing in our people, and ensuring our firm continues to evolve in ways that meet the changing needs of clients and communities across Australia,” he said.
Holding Redlich national managing partner Troy Lewis said the acquisition of Redlich’s by LHD would allow the division to realise its full potential.
“It’s critical for the future success of our personal injury practice that it is part of a specialised national plaintiff litigation firm,” he said.
“Importantly for Redlich’s clients and people, the values and cultures of our firms align closely – a commitment to advocacy, justice, and the very best client care.”
The news follows Holding Redlich’s hiring of two planning and environment partners in Brisbane and Melbourne, respectively, as reported last week.
