National firm Barry Nilsson has appointed a new principal to its family law practice in Melbourne.
Barry Nilsson has bolstered its Melbourne family law practice with the appointment of Kim Lamb (pictured) as principal, effective 11 June.
Previously a partner at Hargreaves Family Lawyers, Lamb brings more than 13 years of experience in family law to the role, with particular expertise in complex property settlements, third-party matters, and financial agreements.
Peter Murdoch, chairperson and principal of Barry Nilsson, said Lamb’s appointment would further strengthen the firm’s family law capabilities within its existing team.
“We are delighted to be welcoming such a highly regarded and respected family law practitioner to our firm,” he said.
“Kim is experienced in acting for a broad range of clients across the spectrum of family and relationship law, and I have no doubt that her extensive skill set will see her seamlessly integrate with, and strengthen, our existing family law team.
“More broadly, the firm’s ability to attract top legal talent like Kim is a testament to our position as a leading family law firm of choice in a highly competitive Melbourne market.”
The national law firm has recently experienced growth in its family law division, marked by the addition of Natalia Todorovic as special counsel, who joined from national competitor Lander & Rogers on 14 April.
In a statement, the firm expressed that she brings specialist knowledge in complex property matters, high-conflict parenting disputes, financial agreements, and spousal maintenance matters.
The back-to-back appointments, Murdoch noted, reflect the firm’s strategic commitment to strengthening its position as a leader in family law.
“As one of our two core areas of business, the strategic investment and growth of our family law practice has been a key focus area for the firm,” he said.
“Through the recent appointment of Kim and Natalia, we are continuing to intentionally build a family law practice that is well equipped to meet the evolving needs of our clients and stands as a leader in family law along the east coast of Australia.”
This news follows the firm’s strengthening of its insurance and health practice with the promotion of 14 lawyers and the addition of a new marketing office at the start of the year.
