National law firm Gadens has elevated six lawyers to partner across Melbourne and Brisbane, bringing its partnership to 39 per cent female.
Gadens has promoted six partners effective 1 July to bolster its corporate, employment, property and commercial litigation capabilities.
These appointments are in addition to the four lateral partners who have joined the firm in the last year – and a further three to join in early FY2025–26, according to the firm.
With the new partner promotions, the firm will have 111 partners as of 1 July, 39 per cent of whom are women.
This news comes after the addition of two partners earlier this year, as well as its expansion into Canberra, with a team of 37 (including seven partners) from boutique firm Trinity Law, in July of last year. Commenting on the promotions, CEO and managing partner Mark Pistilli said the firm was “on an incredible journey” following these moves.
“In the last year, we made the intentional, strategic decision to merge our network of firms and to enter markets like the ACT, where Gadens has not been before. Gadens is now one of the country’s largest full-service firms and can meet all of the needs of our clients – both in terms of geographical coverage and depth of service,” he said.
“Gadens has a clear strategy designed to achieve our vision of being widely regard[ed] as a leading independent Australian law firm. Our people are central to this strategy, and we have a clear focus on recognising their performance and contributions in support of the firm and of our clients. This cohort of market-leading lawyers who we are welcoming to the Gadens partnership are fantastic operators, and I have every confidence that they will continue to make a meaningful impact.”
The newly promoted partners are Isabella Barnes (corporate, Melbourne), Jasmina Bradonjic (commercial litigation, Melbourne), Mitchell Byram (commercial litigation, Brisbane), Natalie McCabe (commercial litigation, Melbourne), Diana Diaz (employment, Melbourne) and Michael Mercier (property, Melbourne).
“Isabella, Jasmina, Mitchell, Natalie, Diana and Michael should be proud of this achievement,” Pistilli said.
“We congratulate them on this well-deserved milestone and look forward to their continued contributions. Congratulations also to all our other people who have been promoted in 2025.”
