A highly experienced projects and energy partner has returned to Ashurst following her tenure at Gilbert + Tobin.
Former alumna, Lixian Liang, has returned as a partner in Ashurst’s projects and energy transition practice, based in Sydney.
Her extensive experience covers the “full life cycle” of energy projects, with a particular focus on renewable energy generation, transmission, and storage.
With a distinguished reputation across both the energy and infrastructure industries, Liang is highly regarded for her specialist skills in energy-focused construction and procurement, which are essential for the delivery of large-scale energy assets.
The co-practice head of projects and energy transition (APAC), Dan Brown, said Ashurst was delighted to have Liang at the firm.
“Her construction and procurement expertise is particularly timely as the market undergoes a rapid build-out of energy assets and investment in transmission infrastructure,” Brown said.
“Lixian’s expertise will be instrumental in supporting our clients as they navigate the dual imperatives of decarbonisation and energy security, both of which are central to Australia’s energy future.”
Liang has advised on the development and structuring of large-scale energy and infrastructure projects, including wind farms, solar farms, battery projects and hybrid solar/battery initiatives.
She has also played a central role in the development of Australia’s first renewable energy zone, having advised Acciona and Cobra on a landmark project that set a blueprint for subsequent transmission developments nationwide.
Liang said she was excited to be returning to Ashurst “and to work alongside a talented team of global experts to deliver innovative solutions on some of the most significant renewable energy and transmission infrastructure projects in Australia and beyond”.
“I look forward to contributing to the continued growth of the practice and helping our clients navigate the opportunities and challenges of this rapidly evolving market,” Liang said.
