National law firm MinterEllison has announced a new chair, selecting a veteran of the firm with more than 15 years’ tenure.
Katrina Groshinski (pictured) has been appointed as the new chair of MinterEllison, officially assuming the role on 31 December 2025 after more than 15 years with the firm.
She succeeds Andrew Rentoul, who has led the firm since 2022.
With over two decades of experience advising on complex competition and regulatory matters, Groshinski has been hailed by the national law firm as a “highly respected” competition partner.
Since joining MinterEllison in 2010, she has guided clients through some of the most consequential regulatory challenges facing both Australian and international businesses.
Her work has included contested merger clearances, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) investigations, market authorisations, and compliance with evolving consumer protection frameworks.
Outgoing chair Andrew Rentoul praised Groshinski’s appointment, noting her vision and leadership will guide MinterEllisons to continued success.
“It has been a privilege to serve as chair and to work alongside talented colleagues and clients,” Rentoul said.
“I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together, including strengthening our governance through the appointment of two independent non-executive directors to our board in 2025, and establishing an ambitious strategy for the firm as it enters its third century.
“Katrina is a visionary leader whose deep industry knowledge and commitment to excellence will ensure MinterEllison continues to thrive at the forefront of the Australian legal and consulting market.”
Speaking on her appointment, Groshinski set out her bold agenda as chair for MinterEllison, expressing her focus on fast-tracking the firm’s strategy, deepening client relationships, driving AI innovation, and building strength in high-growth areas.
“I want to thank Andrew for his leadership and the significant progress achieved under his tenure,” Groshinski said.
“As chair, my focus will be on accelerating our strategy and helping our clients solve their most complex problems.
“Working with our board, CEO and managing partner Virginia Briggs, and our wider leadership team, I am committed to deepening client relationships, driving AI adoption and innovation, and strengthening our capabilities in high-growth areas. We will pursue these priorities with the rigour and integrity that define our profession – because the trust our clients and the community place in us is earned every day.”
