BigLaw firm Squire Patton Boggs has bolstered its energy and resources practice with the appointment of a partner from national law firm HWL Ebsworth.
Michael Brady (pictured) has joined Squire Patton Boggs as a partner in its corporate practice group, based in the firm’s Perth office.
Before joining the BigLaw firm, Brady served as a partner at national law firm HWL Ebsworth, a role he held for nearly four years.
With nearly two decades of experience in corporate, commercial, and securities law, Brady brings extensive expertise to the firm, particularly in the energy, mining, and resources sectors.
He also has extensive experience leading mergers and acquisitions, advising on inbound foreign investment, and guiding the structuring, financing, and ongoing development of major energy and mining projects.
Beyond his legal practice, Brady currently serves as the national president of the Energy Resources Law Association.
Tony Chong, managing partner of Squire Patton Boggs’ Perth office, described Brady’s appointment as a significant boost for the firm, highlighting his extensive sector experience, corporate and commercial expertise, and ASX knowledge set to strengthen the firm’s regional and global teams.
“We are ecstatic about Michael’s appointment as he brings a wealth of experience, including in-house, across the mining, minerals and commodities, energy and energy services sectors,” Chong said.
“Together with his general corporate and commercial expertise, Michael’s pragmatic, client-focused approach makes him an ideal fit with our regional and global teams.
“He also brings with him listed entity and Australia Securities Exchange experience, which further strengthens our corporate offering.”
Speaking about his new role, Brady shared that he was drawn to the firm’s scale and its deep expertise in corporate, energy, and resources work.
“I have been really impressed by the firm’s talented leadership team in Australia and globally and the scale of its impressive corporate practice,” Brady said.
“Underpinned by strong energy and resources and commodities and shipping industry groups, the corporate practice has the international reach and capabilities that clients need to progress their strategic growth plans.”
