Jointly moving from GRT Lawyers, the team comprises eight specialists in corporate advisory, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance.
It will be headed by Glenn Vassallo, who initially joins Mills Oakley as a consultant, and partners Scott Standen and Rachel Hendrie. Also joining the firm are special counsel Alana Nisbet, lawyers Ashleigh Weeks and Bryce Hegarty, senior associate Dale Copley and associate Meghan Bower.
On the move, Vassallo explained that it will enable “the team to integrate into and utilise the cross-referral skills of a wealth of Mills Oakley talent, across many jurisdictions, and for clients this broad and deep skill set will further assist in navigating complex operational, financial, and regulatory challenges, in addition to our existing skill sets, including Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) advice”.
Mills Oakley chief executive John Nerurker said: “Glenn, Scott, Rachel, and their team bring deep sector expertise and strong market credibility to Mills Oakley at a time when the mining and resources sector is facing increasingly complex commercial, regulatory and operational demands.”
He added: “The arrival significantly strengthens our capability in this space and expands our ability to support clients with practical, commercially focused advice across the full life cycle of their operations.”
“With an enhanced national offering, we are even better placed to help clients in the mining and resources sector, from emerging operators to established businesses, navigate growth, risk and opportunity with confidence.”
The team, which officially joined on 7 April, is based in Brisbane.
