Of the 62 DLA Piper lawyers promoted across the world, five are based in Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.
Effective 1 May, DLA Piper elevated Australian senior lawyers Conor Dolphin, Maddison Hardiman, Matthew Roberts, Mitch Robertson, and Sarah Birkett to the partnership.
The promotions reflect the firm’s continued investment in capability where client demand is accelerating and in its key growth areas.
Working out of the Sydney office, Dolphin advises on private M&A, private equity, venture capital, corporate restructuring, governance, and commercial matters for Australian and international clients.
Hardiman, from Melbourne, is a corporate partner who assists renewable energy project developers, financial sponsors, vendors, and purchasers across the full life cycle of complex energy and infrastructure projects and transactions.
Perth’s Roberts has deep experience in the energy and natural resources sector, including early-stage development of hard-rock exploration and mining projects.
Robertson, a Sydney-based employment partner, supports Australian and international clients on workforce strategy, employment risk, and workplace change across the energy and resources, retail, technology, and transport and logistics sectors.
Birkett, from Melbourne, leads the firm’s data, privacy and cyber security capability in Australia and advises on high-risk, business-critical technology and compliance issues.
DLA Piper’s country managing partner in Australia, Shane Bilardi, said the promotions recognise lawyers “who are already making a strong impact with clients and within the firm”.
“We are deliberately investing in areas where our clients are driving transformation and dealing with change, whether that is the energy transition, technology-driven change, or managing growth in complex markets,” Bilardi said.
“Building our partnership in these areas adds further depth to the areas where we see strong opportunities for the future growth of the firm in Australia and with our clients.”
