International law firm Wotton Kearney has formed a collaborative partnership with SynLaw, opening the door for Commonwealth agencies to immediately tap into expanded public law capability through an existing panel-approved pathway.
Wotton Kearney (WK) has strengthened its government services offering through a new collaborative partnership with legal provider SynLaw.
Through this move, the two firms are aiming to offer Commonwealth agencies faster and more streamlined access to specialist public law expertise under an existing panel-approved framework.
The arrangement allows federal agencies to engage external legal advisers and directly brief WK lawyers alongside SynLaw on public law and related matters, without stepping outside established procurement pathways or existing panel structures.
The international law firm’s specialist government team supports agencies at all levels to manage legal risk, deliver policy outcomes and operate effectively in complex environments across a wide range of legal issues.
Clare McNamara, head of WK’s government practice, expressed that the collaboration reflects growing demand from Commonwealth agencies for experienced advisers capable of managing risk in high-scrutiny environments.
“This partnership reflects the sustained investment we’ve made in building a national government practice,” McNamara said.
“We’re seeing growing demand from Commonwealth agencies for experienced advisers who understand risk, operate comfortably in high-scrutiny environments and can deliver at scale.
“This collaboration gives agencies more choice and earlier access to that capability, within the existing legal services panel framework.”
The move builds on WK’s broader expansion in the government legal space, including growth in its Commonwealth-focused work and its established relationships with state, territory and local government clients across Australia.
Bobbi Campbell, managing partner at SynLaw, shared how the collaboration brings the two firms together to support Commonwealth agencies in high-stakes matters, while ensuring full alignment with panel requirements and procurement expectations.
“Wotton Kearney is a trusted partner with a clear track record advising government clients in complex, high-stakes matters,” Campbell said.
“This collaboration is about working together so we can support Commonwealth agencies seamlessly, in a way that is fully aligned with panel settings and procurement expectations.”
