As part of its centenary celebrations, McCullough Robertson has elevated 14 lawyers to more senior roles across its Sydney and Brisbane offices, with the appointments taking effect from 1 July.

The promotions include three new partners, three new special counsel and eight new senior associates.

The East Coast-based law firm’s newly appointed partners are Nicola McMahon (employment relations and safety, Sydney), Rachel Jones (planning and environment, Brisbane), and Julia Lane (construction and infrastructure, Sydney).

With more than eight years at the firm, McMahon has built a strong employment practice, advising public and private sector organisations on a broad range of workplace and industrial relations issues.

Having spent more than 14 years at McCullough Robertson, Jones has established herself as a leading planning and environment lawyer, acting for clients on litigation, advisory and compliance matters across the sector.

Rounding out the firm's new partner cohort, Lane joins the partnership with extensive experience advising on major infrastructure, commercial and residential development projects, working with clients across the education, aviation, property development and public sectors throughout the lifecycle of complex developments.

Speaking about the new partners, McCullough Robertson chair of partners Kristan Conlon said the trio had earned their place in the partnership through their unwavering commitment to clients and the firm's values and would play a key role in shaping the firm’s next century of success.

“I am delighted to welcome Nicola, Rachel and Julia to the partnership, as we continue to provide opportunities for growth to our talented, down to earth and approachable people,” Conlon stated.

“They have all demonstrated their commitment to our clients’ success and live our values of ‘down to earth’, ‘committed’, ‘commercial’ and ‘generous’ in all that they do.

“As we celebrate our centenary, I am excited about the contribution they will make as partners and leaders in their fields, and the role they will play in shaping the next 100 years of our firm.”

The firm's new special counsel are David Saunders (construction and infrastructure, Brisbane), Esterina Azzi (estates, Sydney), and Lisselle Lomax (corporate advisory, Sydney).

The new senior associates include: Alex Claridge (construction and infrastructure, Sydney), Caitlin Miller (litigation and dispute resolution, Brisbane), Grace Lancaster (employment relations and safety, Sydney), Hasmindar Dhillon (litigation and dispute resolution, Sydney), Karl Christensen (employment relations and safety, Brisbane), Melanie Gui (insurance and corporate risk, Brisbane), Talia Srage (digital and IP, Sydney) and Ulani Powell (planning and environment, Brisbane).

Conlon added: “These appointments are evidence of our strong pipeline of talent, future partners and leaders of the firm. They bring fresh ideas and diverse perspectives and have demonstrated their commitment to our clients’ success and their ability to deliver quality solutions.

“I am excited to see their careers develop and the impact they will have on our clients and the firm into our next century.”
