Australian Business Lawyers & Advisors has promoted a new director in its Melbourne office, recognising her “instrumental role” in driving the continued growth of the firm’s Victorian practice.
Tamsin Lawrence (pictured) has been promoted to director at Australian Business Lawyers & Advisors (ABLA), taking up the Melbourne-based role on 1 July 2026.
In a statement, ABLA attributed her appointment to the “instrumental role” she has played in establishing and growing the firm’s Melbourne office into a “thriving workplace relations practice”.
Lawrence joined ABLA more than four years ago as a senior associate before progressing to associate director, where she spent the past two years leading the firm’s Melbourne practice.
During that time, she led the firm’s expansion into Victoria, overseeing the launch of its first Melbourne office and helping build it into a significant workplace and employment law practice.
ABLA described Lawrence as an “experienced” employment and industrial relations lawyer with a track record of advising employers across a diverse range of industries, including manufacturing, construction, building materials, transport and logistics, and utilities.
She has developed particular expertise in discrimination and sexual harassment law, representing employers throughout the implementation of the Respect@Work reforms and advising organisations on their positive duty obligations under the Sex Discrimination Act.
Before joining ABLA, Lawrence worked at the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where she gained extensive experience in employer advocacy and developed a detailed understanding of Australia’s workplace relations landscape.
Nigel Ward, CEO of ABLA, said Lawrence had earned her appointment after taking on the challenge of launching the firm’s Melbourne office and leading its successful growth.
“Tamsin took on the challenge of opening and leading a new office for ABLA in Melbourne, and she has delivered,” Ward said.
“Her practice competence, entrepreneurial drive, and genuine commitment to supporting employers have been central to the success of our Melbourne expansion. This promotion is well earned.”
