Global legal technology company Relativity has elevated its chief product officer to president to accelerate its AI strategy, strengthen its legal data intelligence platform and lead its next phase of innovation.
After more than seven years shaping Relativity's product strategy as chief product officer, Chris Brown (pictured) has been promoted to president, effective 13 July, as the legal technology company accelerates its AI ambitions.
In his new role, Brown will spearhead the next phase of Relativity's AI-powered legal data intelligence platform, broadening the range of legal work it supports while making advanced technology more accessible to legal professionals navigating an increasingly complex digital landscape.
Since joining Relativity, Brown has played a central role in transforming the company's offering into a leading legal data intelligence platform, expanding its capabilities to support everything from litigation and regulatory investigations to information requests and data breach responses.
Phil Saunders, Relativity's CEO, described Brown's appointment as a pivotal moment in the company's AI evolution, praising his "agility and grit" and saying he is the ideal leader to drive the next stage of the platform's growth.
“Chris brings the agility and grit to meet this moment of AI transformation,” Saunders stated.
“We've spent years building the data foundation, the governance and the agentic capabilities behind our platform, and I believe Chris is the right leader to shift us into high gear, to elevate Relativity's system of action, reach further into the surfaces where legal work happens and make it easier for legal teams to engage directly with their data.”
With more than 25 years of experience building and scaling digital platforms across complex consumer and enterprise markets, Brown has built a career at the forefront of AI innovation, using data-driven technologies to reshape customer experiences and accelerate business growth.
Before joining Relativity, Brown served as chief executive of Kapow Events, guiding the business through its acquisition by Cvent.
He also spent nearly a decade at Orbitz Worldwide as chief product officer, where he helped develop AI-powered travel applications and digital platforms.
As president, Brown will oversee several strategic initiatives designed to embed AI more deeply into legal workflows.
Among his immediate priorities is integrating legal drafting platform Gavel, acquired by Relativity in June, into Microsoft Word, giving lawyers direct access to the company's AI capabilities within one of the profession's most widely used applications.
Speaking about his new role, Brown said the appointment creates an opportunity to accelerate Relativity's AI vision by uniting its product, marketing and technology partnership teams to deliver a more seamless experience for legal professionals.
“I could not be more excited to step into this role. Bringing product, marketing and technology partnerships together lets us move faster and think as one about where legal work is going,” Brown noted.
“I believe what we've built has already changed how legal work gets done, and the fullest version of that vision is still ahead: legal practitioners asking questions, exploring evidence and drafting work product, all in one simple and intuitive flow, with AI they can trust.”
