Corrs Chambers Westgarth has advised Staples Inc, the world's largest office products company, on its $1 billion bid to acquire full ownership of Corporate Express Australia Limited, advised by Baker & McKenzie.

The offer closed on 26 July with Staples already having an interest in 98.5 per cent in the company. Staples will compulsorily acquire all remaining shares of Corporate Express.

The Corrs team was led by Braddon Jolley with James Rozsa, Byron Koster, Jaclyn Riley-Smith, Nicole Graham and Clare Dunne.

Braddon Jolley said of the deal: "The offer was overwhelmingly successful and Corrs was delighted to have acted for Staples in acquiring full ownership of Corporate Express."
