Blake Dawson has advised the ASX and JSE-listed gold producer, Gold One International, on the Australian aspects of its $US250 million acquisition of Rand Uranium.

It is the second recent deal that the firm has worked on with Gold One following the announcement of a significant investment by a Chinese consortium in the gold miner last week.

In this latest deal, Gold One has entered into a Sale of Shares Agreement to acquire 100 per cent of Rand Uranium, a shallow gold mining company with significant uranium resources. Its profile fits with Gold One's strategy of mining shallow, low technical risk gold resources.

The agreement is subject to several conditions, including regulatory approvals.

Lead partner Roger Davies said: "Having advised Gold One on its initial listing on the Australian Securities Exchange, we are very pleased to be involved in the continuing growth of the company through these two significant transactions. The ASX listing has provided an excellent platform to assist that growth."

Webber Wentzel Attorneys represented Rand.
