Mallesons Stephen Jaques and Blake Dawson are advising on a strategic business and capital alliance between AMP Capital and Japanese trust bank Mitsubishi U F J Trust and Banking Corporation.

Mallesons is advising AMP Capital while Blakes is acting for MUTB.

Under the alliance arrangements, MUTB will acquire a 15 per cent interest in AMP Capital Holdings Limited (AMPCH), the parent company of the AMP Capital group of companies for $425 million and will be offered one seat on the AMPCH Board.

MUTB will distribute AMP Capital's products to Japanese institutional investors and retail products will also be distributed in a non-exclusive arrangement through the broader Mitsubishi UJ Financial Group's network of third party banking and securities distributors.

The Mallesons team is being led by Sydney partner Evie Bruce, together with M&A partners David Eliakim and Susan Hilliard and banking and finance partner Ken Astridge.

The team also includes special counsel Malcolm Brennan and Glenda Hanson, senior associates Jonathan Grant, Carrie Chen and Daniel Natale, solicitors Laura Steinke and Jung Ma, and summer clerk Joe Saunders.
