I joined following Curwoods’ acquisition of GILD Insurance Litigation Pty Ltd on 24 September 2012.

When were you made a partner of that firm?

Upon acquisition on 24 September 2012.

Which firm were you at most recently prior to this?

GILD Insurance Litigation Pty Ltd.

What practice group are you with?

Health & government.

What has been the most significant change to your practice area during your career?

I think the introduction of the Civil Liability Act 2002 had a significant impact on the management of civil litigation. I also think that the courts have driven significant change through the introduction and implementation of, say, Professional Negligence Lists and the Uniform Civil Procedure Rules aimed at the efficient management of and early resolution of civil claims.

What has been a major career highlight for you?

Being appointed executive manager of GILD Insurance Litigation in 2009, which involved running that end-to-end business through periods of significant change. Being appointed a partner at Curwoods has been another career highlight.

What do you like about being a lawyer?

I’m resolution focused, so I like being able to assist clients who are confronted with a claim that needs to be resolved efficiently and fairly. I like working alongside my clients, listening to their changing needs and adapting my own service offering to suit their needs.

What do you find challenging?

Leading a large team of people through significant change is always a challenge. You need to understand what your team is feeling and saying and be empathetic, but at the same time be focused on what needs to be done to implement the inevitable change.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

I love travelling with my husband and four children and creating great memories in the process. I enjoy sitting down to a great Italian feast with my extended family — you just can’t beat good pasta and wine.
