There are a number of factors you should consider when deciding to accept a contract role.

The opportunity to re-enter the market and have some income is a strong reason to accept in this market. Equally, if the opportunity will develop your technical skills, give you exposure to a new practice area and allow you to access other lawyers and networks it may be a great option.

A contract should be flexible for both parties. Downright terminating a contract early should not impact on your career.

Alternatively, you may prefer to hold out for a permanent position. If your practice area is buoyant with more opportunities, then this is an option. Dedicating your time to your job hunt could be a priority for you.

Obviously, everyone's circumstances differ and you need to make a decision that suits your personal situation.
