A The Australian legal job market has definitely seen a positive turn. However, there are many more lawyers on the market, thus demand for roles is still exceeding supply.

Lawyers who traditionally sought out international experience in the UK, the US, the Middle East and Asia were more affected by the GFC in those respective countries. In many cases, they had to re-locate back to Australia and are still actively looking for roles.

In addition, many lawyers who held tight during the downturn are now finding the confidence to move, while those made redundant in 2009 were advised to seek out employment in early 2010 - when the market was predicted to inevitably pick up.

Take the above factors into account if you are finding it difficult to get a response from job applications, and give the recruitment process adequate time and you will eventually conquer that new and exciting opportunity.
