THE CORPORATE practice of Blake Dawson Waldron’s Brisbane office has a new head in partner Richard Flynn.

Previously in charge of Blake’s Papua New Guinea corporate practice, Flynn will begin his post in December this year.

“[Flynn] is highly regarded for his work in the development and negotiation of a wide variety of corporate and commercial arrangements and has strong expertise in infrastructure development, particularly in the resources and energy sectors,” Brisbane practice leader Jonathan Shaw said.

“He has gained unique experience and knowledge in key sectors managing large and complex transactions with a wide range of corporates,” he said.

“[Flynn] will add considerable depth to our Brisbane practice expertise and will ensure that we continue to deliver a complete range of first class legal services to our clients.”

Flynn has a broad range of experience in M&A, corporate restructuring, corporate finance and capital markets both in Australia and offshore.

“My work, particularly with resources sector clients on complex transactions and also with public and private sector infrastructure projects, will provide client value-add opportunities and help to ensure that [Blakes] maintains its exemplary reputation,” Flynn said.

Flynn joined the firm’s Melbourne office as a lawyer in 1992, before moving to PNG for the first time to work on the Lihir Gold IPO, and again in 2002 as corporate practice leader.
