Hugh Northam has joined Piper Alderman as a partner in the dispute resolution division of the Melbourne office.
Northam joins Piper Alderman from a major national law firm. In his new role he will focus on commercial litigation, dispute resolution and defamation.
Managing partner Gordon Grieve said Piper Alderman was extremely pleased to have someone with Northam’s experience join the Melbourne office at this exciting time, when strong growth has prompted the move to larger offices in Bourke Street in early September.
“[Northam] has acted in some of the nation’s most interesting and high profile commercial litigation matters, including Trade Practices Act issues relating to mergers and acquisitions of major businesses and the groundbreaking Dow Jones internet defamation case,” Grieve said.
Northam said he was impressed with both the high professional standards and the prominent commercial client base of the firm, which have contributed to recognition of Piper Alderman’s success, not only in its placement among the top twenty five firms nationally, but also in recent panel appointments.
