Melbourne and Sydney-based firm Maddocks has internally appointed two new commercial partners. Robert Gregory practices in the firm’s intellectual property and technology team. A registered trademarks attorney, Gregory focuses on information technology, intellectual property protection and exploitation, online privacy issues and trade practices law. Bernie O'Sullivan practices in all areas of superannuation, managed investments, trusts and estate and business succession planning. He has a combination of practical experience in the marketing and sale of financial and trust services, as well as an understanding of the legislation underpinning such services. These appointments, which become effective from 1 July, bring the total number of partners to 41.

Terrie Hamilton-Smith was internally appointed to special counsel in the commercial disputes group. Before joining Maddocks in 1995 Hamilton-Smith was a lawyer with Telstra, Arthur Robinson & Hedderwicks and Freehills and as an associate to the Honourable Mr Justice Northrop of the Federal Court.

Five senior associates were also appointed. Simone Holding (construction and major projects), works on drafting development agreements and tender conditions, negotiating construction contracts and consultancy agreements. Anthony Leggiero (property) has been involved in the acquisition and sale of Mulgrave Business Park and the acquisition of the World Trade Centre. Lindy Richardson, (workplace services) provides advice on all aspects of employment-related law. Joel Ruffles (commercial disputes) joined Maddocks as a senior associate in the commercial disputes group. Prue Whitford (planning and environment) has clients including the City of Sydney Council, Canada Bay Council, Warringah Council and North Sydney Council.
