Herbert Geer & Rundle announced the appointment of James Demetriou as special counsel within the firm’s expanding corporate advisory practice. Demetriou has extensive experience in private equity and major transactional matters, with an emphasis on the hospitality, manufacturing and technology sectors. Formerly general counsel at Taverner Hotel Group, Demetriou gained a high profile as key adviser in that organisation’s acquisition by Woolworth’s-owned ALH.
Queensland firmMcInnes Wilson Lawyers has appointed four new solicitors. Kylie Jamieson joins the firm’s Brisbane office in the insurance litigation team, specialising in public liability, motor accidents and workers’ compensation. She was admitted in June 2001 and has worked in the areas of commercial dispute resolution, construction and litigation in Sydney and Brisbane. Sarah Reuter was admitted as a solicitor on 2 May and has been with McInnes Wilson since joining the firm as a law clerk in November 2003. She will be in the firm’s commercial division. Claire Jackson was relocated from the firm’s Brisbane office to the Southport office to practise insurance litigation. She has focused on defendant insurance matters, dealing predominantly with public and product liability and CTP motor vehicle insurance. Rhett Das is working in the Maroochydore office in the area of insurance litigation, specifically in employer liability insurance claims and injury claims arising from motor accidents in public places.
Queensland firmMacDonnells Law announced four new appointments. Rowan Pack joined the litigation and disputes resolution team. He has been practising law for four years and has experience in large commercial litigation disputes, insolvency, debt recovery, plaintiff personal injury and prosecutions including criminal, fisheries and workplace health and safety. Hannah Chow joined the local government team. She provides advice on commercial matters, contracts, leases and property development issues as they relate to local authorities and government-owned corporations. She has experience in all aspects of tenure management, statutory compliance and native title issues. Ryan Ellis recently joined MacDonnells’ litigation and dispute resolution team. He practises predominantly in the areas of insolvency, insurance and building and construction law. He is experienced in specialist areas including contract, debt recovery, defamation, administrative law, property and estate litigation and professional negligence. Edith Frankling joined the firm’s litigation and disputes resolution team. Prior to joining MacDonnells, she was an associate to CF Wall QC for two years at the District Court of Queensland in Townsville. Frankling has experience in criminal law matters, Childrens Court matters and civil disputes.
