John Oakes and Bruce Heddle, formerly of Minter Ellison, joined the Clayton Utz workplace relations group, based in Sydney, on 1 November. Both were instrumental in establishing one of the major workplace relations practices in Australia at Minter Ellison. Clayton Utz said Oakes and Heddle are now both prominent practitioners in all areas of workplace relations including employment, corporate HR (M&As, restructures, outsourcings etc), employee benefits and remuneration, superannuation, relevant corporate law (including corporate governance and remuneration), privacy, discrimination, occupational health and safety, and industrial relations.

 
 

Addisons has appointed three new partners. Jeff Mansfield is a former Mallesons Stephen Jaques partner and general counsel and subsequently was CEO of Redfern Photonics. Addisons said he is an experienced commercial lawyer with expertise in mergers and acquisitions and private and venture capital. Jamie Nettleton is a former Coudert Brothers partner specialising in intellectual property with special expertise in the gaming and wagering industry. David Selig, also a former Coudert Brothers partner, specialises in capital raisings and acquisitions with more than 25 years of experience in commercial legal practice in Sydney.
