Sydney firm Wilshire Webb recently promoted David Thomas to senior associate. He was formerly a town planner for 11 years, and has been with Wilshire Webb for over four years working exclusively with the firm’s local government team. As well, David Clark has joined Wilshire Webb as senior associate. He is well known to many people in local government having been the Local Government Association’s senior solicitor for the last 10 years. Jennifer Smith and Sharon Levy from the local government team have been appointed as associates.
Herbert Geer & Rundle has appointed two new partners in Sydney, both previously at Deacons. Peter Short has expertise advising clients on matters ranging from major commercial acquisitions and sales to joint ventures, development agreements, and financing transactions. He is also Vice Chairman of Australian Legal Resources International, an Australian non-government organisation of judges and lawyers. Kylie Matthews has extensive commercial property experience in Australia and the UK. The firm’s Melbourne office has also appointed senior associate Derek Miller from Arnold Bloch Leibler and will take on Susan Herbert, also from Arnold Bloch Leibler, as a senior consultant in July.
Carlee Stockall has joined as a solicitor with MacDonnells Solicitors. She specialises in personal injuries, commercial law, conveyancing, and general litigation. Prior to joining MacDonnells, Carlee worked for a Mackay based law firm.
Intellectual property specialist Karen Hayne has been made a partner in the Sydney office of the international law firm Coudert Brothers. Formerly a senior associate with the firm, Hayne has worked both in the Sydney and London offices of the firm. She is widely recognised for her work in litigation and dispute resolution. There are now 21 partners in the Sydney office of Coudert Brothers following the appointment earlier this month of Lexia Wilson as a partner in the property group.
Philip Martin, formerly the planning and environmental partner at Gadens Lawyers (Melbourne), has just taken up an appointment as a full time legal member in the Planning and Land Valuation Lists of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Martin has both legal and planning qualifications and has lectured and tutored in planning and heritage law at Melbourne University.
