Melbourne mid-tier firm Brian Ward & Partners Pty Ltd has added two sporting heavyweights to its director ranks, with the recent appointment of Malcolm Speed and Campbell Johnston.

Speed rejoins the firm after a 15-year absence.

His diverse career experience includes many years as a barrister at the Victorian bar, as well as working as a consultant for the sporting industry, serving as CEO of Cricket Australia, and most recently, CEO of the International Cricket Council.

Johnston's arrival reconnects him with firm director Geoff Rees. Together the pair won gold for Australia at the 1974 World Rowing Championships.

Johnston's distinguished legal career has included the role of national chairman of partners of Blake Dawson.

Most recently, he was the executive counsel to AWB Limited, advising on a range of issues arising from the royal commission conducted by Commissioner Cole in the UN Oil-for-Food Program.
