Sydney media boutique Sainty Law has recruited media and regulatory specialist Anthony Poole from FOXTEL. He joins the firm as general counsel.
At FOXTEL, where he was based for nine years, Poole was the lead lawyer on a number of original production and programming, acquisition and distribution agreements with a wide range of industry players - from small independent production houses through to complex output deals with all the large US studios. Many of these deals were the first in Australia to use new media channels, such as mobile and internet streaming, internet downloading and video-on-demand platforms.
Poole was also involved in large infrastructure deals with Optus, Austar and Telstra, with an emphasis on content licensing and facilities sharing arrangements.
Prior to his time at FOXTEL, Poole was a senior lawyer at Allens Arthur Robinson, practising in corporate law, commercial property and planning law.
Poole specialises in acquiring, aggregating and exploiting content on traditional and new media platforms.
He is experienced in all aspects of television broadcasting, including regulatory and compliance, distribution, engineering, broadcast operations, satellite and cable operations, media and online distribution, video on demand, production and programming and advertising clearances.
