Competition and trade practices law specialist, Mark McCowan has been promoted to partnership within Corrs Chambers Westgarth's IP Technology & Competition Group in Melbourne.
With experience that includes working in the Washington DC antitrust practice of a leading US law firm, McCowan has extensive experience across a range of industries, particularly in merger clearance processes and complex regulatory investigations.
He regularly represents clients in Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) investigations and in seeking and negotiating immunities, clearances and authorisations from the ACCC. Some of his most notable work includes acting for Johnson & Johnson in obtaining ACCC clearance for its global acquisition of Pfizer's consumer healthcare business, and for Boeing in gaining ACCC clearance for its global acquisition of Insitu Inc.
