Western Australian mediator Helen Shurven has been appointed as a part-time member of the National Native Title Tribunal.
Shurven has worked in senior roles for the Western Australian government over the past 12 years, predominantly with independent statutory organisations. She has also been a solicitor with Marks Healy Sands and held roles at Edith Cowan and Murdoch University.
"Ms Shurven has strong legal experience in Western Australia and will bring extensive knowledge to this role," Attorney-General Robert McClelland said.
"Her current work as an accredited mediator will be particularly valued by the Tribunal."
Shurven is currently an accredited mediator under the Australian National Mediation Standards and has also been a mediation supervisor and trainer with Relationships Australia (WA).
