Following the 1 June opening of Holman Fenwick Willan's new office in Perth, the firm has this week announced further developments in its Asia-Pacific branches, including the addition of a new partner to its Sydney office.

Continuing to grow the firm's Australian east coast practice, HFW appointed partner David Coogans to its Sydney office.
A mariner and former partner of Richards Butler in Hong Kong, Coogans has extensive history in the shipping sector, having previously served with shipping company Cunard on a variety of ships, now handling both wet and dry matters. He will join the firm on 1 July 2011.
Next month the leader of the firm's Shanghai office, Paul Aston, will relocate from Shanghai to head the firm's Singapore office and lead its energy and offshore team. Simon Davidson, who has run the firm's Singapore office for 12 years, will focus full time on his legal practice.
Aston initially worked in the firm's London and Hong Kong offices and in 1991 went on to found the firm's Singapore office.
Having led the firm's Shanghai office since 2008, Aston will be replaced by Henry Fung Aston as the new Singapore head.
In other Asia-Pacific developments for the firm, London partner and international arbitration specialist Guy Hardaker will relocate to HFW's Singapore office in August 2011. Hardaker has a broad energy practice, principally upstream oil and gas, covering transactional, regulatory, risk management and dispute resolution matters. He worked in the firm's Hong Kong office for 10 years before returning to London.
Joining the firm's Hong Kong office in September 2011 will be corporate partner Jonathan Moult from Herbert Smith. Moult will bring extensive experience in acquisition finance, property finance, capital markets and global loans.
