A new chair has been appointed to the National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Council (NADRAC).
Jeremy Gormly SC will chair the independent non-statutory body which provides policy advice to the Attorney-General on ways of resolving or managing disputes without judicial determination.
"Mr Gormly has extensive experience in Government disputes and inquiries, as well as in the practice of mediation generally," said Federal Attorney-General Robert McClelland on Monday (25th July).
In 2009, Gormly successfully mediated claims arising from the 1964 Melbourne-Voyager collision, which had a number of cases outstanding for many years, said McClelland.
McClelland also announced the reappointments of four members of NADRAC: Margaret Halsmith, Tom Howe QC, Stephen Lancken and Lindsay Smith, whom he said had all made "solid contributions to NADRAC over the last three years".
