Lander & Rogers bolsters insurance practice

Lander & Rogers has hired a new partner and three senior associates to its Sydney and Melbourne insurance law and litigation group.

Charles Thornley (pictured), formerly of Wotton + Kearney, joins the firm as a partner in its Sydney office.Thornley has specialised in insurance law for nearly 20 years and is well known in the Sydney construction litigation area.

 
 

"Construction projects are becoming increasingly complex and we have seen an associated increase in the past couple of years in property and construction-related litigation,” said Thornley.

Senior associate Robert Muir has joined the firm's Melbourne office. Muir previously acted on behalf of two of Australia's leading private medical defence organisations. He now specialises in matters relating to medical insurance, including the defence of litigation against public hospitals and general practitioners.

Stephanie Lecouvey has joined the firm's Melbourne office as a senior associate. Lecouvey, who joined the firm from TressCox Lawyers, practises in insurance law and litigation with a focus on professional indemnity and general commercial disputes.

Sonia Hay joins the firm's Sydney office as a senior associate. Her experience spans all forms of dispute resolution, including informal negotiations, mediation and court litigation. Hay has advised national insurers, medical defence organisations and private hospitals in relation to claims, including providing technical and strategic advice.
