COD hires partner to lead new practice group
Carroll & O’Dea Lawyers (COD) has recruited Selwyn Black (pictured) of Parry Carroll as a partner to head up the firm’s new business lawyers group, effective 1 April 2012.

Black has over 25 years experience, with particular expertise in the sale, purchase and restructuring of companies, trusts and businesses, as well in the development, food and transport industries.
He has also undertaken an extensive range of property-related work including major purchases, sales, joint ventures, leases and management agreements of hotels and shopping centres.
Black will be joined by Peter Carroll, who has been appointed as special counsel, and two others.
The newly-created team will work closely with other specialist groups within the firm, including workplace solutions and the commercial litigation, property, IP and not-for-profit groups.
David Jones has also been made a partner of the firm two years after joining COD’s
Jones has over 20 years experience and is a past president of the Hunter Valley Law Society.
He has significant experience in dispute resolution across various jurisdictions and is a Law Society accredited specialist in his chosen principal practice area.
