Defence sector acquisition finalised

Defence sector acquisition finalised

Glen Hughes, K&L Gates

Micreo Limited has been acquired by an international military product provider, with advice from a global firm.

Firm: K&L Gates (Micreo Limited); Corrs Chambers Westgarth (L-3 Communications Ltd)

Deal: L-3 Communications acquired Micreo Limited.

Value: Confidential

Area: M&A

Key players: The K&L Gates team was led by Sydney corporate partner Glen Hughes (pictured) and included senior associate Sarah Bullock.

The Corrs Chambers Westgarth team was led by partner Andrew Messenger with support from senior associate Aidan Lavin.

Deal significance: NYSE-listed company L-3 Communications (L-3) is a leading provider of a broad range of communication and electronic systems and products used on military and commercial platforms.

L-3 has acquired specialised electronic warfare (EW) subsystem provider Micreo Limited (Micreo).

“Having worked with Micreo for a number of years, we are pleased to have had the opportunity to help their business reach this next phase,” Mr Hughes said.

“The combination of two market leaders will offer L-3 Micreo's clients a superior EW offering in the defence sector, with their products already installed in several of the world's front-line military fighter jets and ships.”
