KWM and Freehills advise on sale of transport group

KWM and Freehills advise on sale of transport group

King & Wood Mallesons and Freehills have acted on the sale of the International Energy Services group to McAleese Transport Group.

Firms: King & Wood Mallesons (CHAMP Private Equity), Freehills (McAleese Transport Group)

Deal: CHAMP Private Equity sells International Energy Services (IES) to McAleese

Area: M&A

Value: Undisclosed

Key players: The KWM team was led by M&A partner Mike Barker together with Matt Coull and Ryan Thorne. On the banking side, KWM partners Richard Hayes and James Mok worked with Will Stawell. The lead partners for Freehills were Peter Dunne (pictured) and Hayley Neilson.

Deal significance: The IES group comprises Cootes Transport, a specialised fuel transport business; Liquip, a manufacturer of fuel-handling related equipment; and IES Resources, specialising in transport logistics and services to the mining resources sector. The sale of IES marks a milestone for CHAMP Private Equity as it is the last investment in CHAMP Fund 1, which was the inaugural private equity buyout fund set up by CHAMP Private Equity in 2000.
