DEACONS WILL launch its alumni network around Australia this month and is encouraging former employees to register their details online.

Chief executive partner Don Boyd said the theme of the first launch, to be held in Sydney at Deacons’ office on 21 February, will be “six degrees of integration” and will include a cocktail party and wine-tasting evening with one of the firm’s alumni, Tiffany Nugan from Nugan Estate Wines.

“The most fascinating aspect has been to discover the many successes and achievements of our alumni and our program will provide an opportunity to exchange news, share up-to-date legal insights, maintain the professional and social relationships that have been built over the years and cultivate some new ones,” he said in a letter to former Deacons employees.

The firm counts former Prime Minister Gough Whitlam as an alumni as he began his legal career as an articled clerk at Sly & Russell, a predecessor firm of Deacons.

The other launch dates are Perth on 21 April, Melbourne on 29 May, and Brisbane on 28 August. There will also be a members’ cocktail function held in Sydney on 25 September and in Melbourne on 27 November. Deacons alumni can register their details by clicking on Alumni under the Our People on the Deacons homepage www.deacons.com.au
