Mr Candy (pictured) died aged 69 after a long career as a commercial and taxation lawyer.

Rigby Cooke Lawyers partner Ross Higgins said: “He was a much loved and valued colleague, who loved the law, teaching young lawyers how to be better lawyers [...] and sharing stories of the interesting cases and clients he had over the years – many of whom became his friends.”

Mr Candy first became partner with Rigby Cooke Lawyers’ predecessor Madden and Candy in 1971.

He transitioned from partner to senior consultant in 2004, and then stepped back from full-time capacity in December 2014. Mr Candy was still working as a casual senior consultant when he passed away.

Rigby Cooke Lawyers senior consultant Tom Callander said: “His other great love of sailing was shared enthusiastically with his friends here, and many colleagues and clients were lucky to join him out on the bay over the years.”

He continued: “He was a great lawyer, teacher and friend, and will be very sadly missed.”
