LIV to host medicine and law conference

The head of the Victorian County Court’s medical division, Judge Saccardo, will outline the court’s 2012 objectives at this Friday’s annual Medicine and Law Conference hosted by the Law Institute of Victoria.

Joining Saccardo as the keynote speaker will be coroner John Olle and in-house lawyer for Epworth HealthCare, Elizabeth Kennedy. Kennedy will discuss risk management issues including violent and aggressive patients and visitors, hospital hot spots and the consequences of failure. Olle will explore the importance of the Coroner’s Court’s preventative role and its commitment to investigate, rather than apportion blame.
